Prominent Morogoro Businessman Mohamed Hood Said Passes Away at 90
Morogoro – Mohamed Hood Said, the renowned businessman and former owner of Hood Bus Company in Morogoro, has passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at his residence on Mlapakoro Street, Morogoro Municipal Council. He was 90 years old.
Faiz Abdallah Salumu, son of the deceased, confirmed that his father died peacefully at home around noon.
Funeral arrangements are currently underway, with the burial scheduled for Tuesday at Kola Cemetery in Morogoro.
Hood served as chairman of the Tanzania Bus Owners Association (Taboa) for more than 11 years and was widely respected for mentoring young entrepreneurs in the transport sector.
Issa Nkya, Taboa’s treasurer and owner of Happy Nation Bus Company, described Hood as a teacher who generously shared his expertise in bus operations and the transport business.
"Even before I entered this business, Hood taught me the fundamentals and ethics of transport management. His guidance helped many of us succeed," Nkya stated.
Thobias Andengenye, former Morogoro Regional Police Commander, praised Hood for his strict adherence to transport laws and cooperative relationship with law enforcement.
"He never favoured drivers who broke safety rules and always encouraged young entrepreneurs to grow responsibly," Andengenye said.
Hood’s contribution to Tanzania’s transport sector and national economy was significant. He will be remembered as a leader, mentor, and pioneer whose legacy continues to inspire generations of entrepreneurs in the industry.
