Arumeru Man Appeals for Medical Assistance Following Domestic Attack
Arusha – A 40-year-old resident of Olevolosi Village in Kimnyaki Ward, Arumeru District, Baraka Melami, is seeking urgent medical assistance from well-wishers after suffering severe injuries in a domestic attack that left him requiring a catheter to urinate.
Mr. Melami, who was initially treated at Selian Hospital in Arumeru, is currently recovering at home but continues to experience severe pain while using a tube to pass urine following the November 19, 2025 incident.
Speaking at his home, the victim recounted the events of that night when he alleges his wife, Anna Melami, 30, attacked him while he was sleeping. According to his account, she used a knife to sever his genitals and concealed them under the bed.
"I am still in a lot of pain using this tube. Even simple movements are difficult, and urinating is agonizing. I appeal to anyone who can help me access a prosthetic device to pass urine normally," Mr. Melami stated.
The victim explained that there had been no argument prior to the attack. The couple had spent the day working in their shop before retiring to bed as usual.
Following the assault, Mr. Melami managed to escape outdoors where neighbors assisted him and transported him to hospital. Medical professionals later informed him that the severed organ could not be surgically reattached.
He also reported that his wife had turned up the radio volume to muffle his cries for help and pretended to lose consciousness during the incident.
Despite the severity of the attack, Mr. Melami has forgiven his wife and has appealed to President Samia Suluhu Hassan to order her release from police custody, stating he will not continue living with her.
Arumeru District Commissioner Mwinyi Ahmed Mwinyi confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody. He stated that his office will dispatch a team of medical experts to assess the victim’s condition and announced plans to personally visit Mr. Melami.
