Tanzania’s Telecom Sector Achieves Impressive 92.8% Quality of Service Performance

Tanzania’s telecommunications industry has demonstrated remarkable service quality, with mobile network operators collectively achieving a 92.8 percent compliance with national quality standards, according to the latest regulatory assessment.

The comprehensive evaluation, conducted across 14 regions between April and June, analyzed five mobile network operators using 17 key performance parameters. One operator achieved a perfect 100 percent score, while the lowest-performing network still maintained an impressive 81.3 percent rating.

Call connection success rates averaged 91 percent, with most networks meeting stringent compliance requirements. The study extensively examined mobile technology penetration, including 2G, 3G, and 4G network performance, call transfer efficiency, and voice service quality.

Notably, the Kilimanjaro Region emerged as a standout performer in mobile internet speeds, recording an impressive 22.47 Mbps—surpassing the national average of 19.4 Mbps. Other regions like Mtwara, Mwanza, and Unguja also demonstrated strong digital connectivity.

“These results reflect the ongoing commitment to delivering reliable and high-quality telecommunications services across Tanzania,” said the regulatory authority’s leadership.

The monitoring exercise covered strategic regions in Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, signaling a comprehensive approach to assessing nationwide telecommunications infrastructure.

Regulatory authorities have committed to continued periodic monitoring, aiming to further improve network coverage, enhance internet speeds, and ensure consistent service reliability for consumers in both urban and rural areas.
