Tanzania’s Agricultural Revolution: President Unveils Ambitious Irrigation Farming Strategy
In a landmark campaign announcement, Tanzania’s President has outlined a groundbreaking agricultural transformation strategy aimed at dramatically boosting national agricultural productivity and economic growth.
The comprehensive plan targets constructing 738 irrigation schemes nationwide, with a bold vision to elevate agricultural sector growth from the current 4% to an ambitious 10% annually by 2030. This strategic initiative encompasses crops, livestock, and fisheries, representing a holistic approach to national agricultural development.

A significant focus will be on creating job opportunities for youth, particularly technical college graduates, through expanded agro-processing industries.
The President also highlighted achievements in small-scale mining, announcing the issuance of over 1,700 new licenses in the past five years and commitment to resolving long-standing industry conflicts.
