President Samia Suluhu Hassan has committed to transformative development in Arusha Region, revealing substantial investments totaling 3.097 trillion shillings over the past four and a half years. During a recent campaign rally, she outlined comprehensive plans spanning infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.
Infrastructure Development Highlights:
– Planned construction of multiple road projects including:
– 23-kilometer Mto wa Mbu–Selela road
– 27-kilometer Selela–Engaruka road
– 24-kilometer Engaruka–Ngarenaro road
– 10-kilometer hotel access road in Karatu
– Modernization of Namanga One Stop Border Post to enhance cross-border trade
– 10.2 kilometers of urban tarmac roads in Oljoro, Engosheraton, and Olasiti
Healthcare and Education Investments:
– Upgraded referral and district hospitals with modern diagnostic facilities
– Advanced equipment installation at Mount Meru Hospital
– Strengthened medical capabilities for specialized treatments
– 1.267 billion shillings invested in free education
– Plans to establish colleges, training institutions, and universities in every district and region
Economic Empowerment Initiatives:
– Construction of Mnadani Market and regional market developments
– 1,823 local groups benefiting from municipal loans
– New 200 million shilling fund to support small traders
– Mining sector contribution projected to increase from 10% to 25% by 2025
