Kilimanjaro Region Set for Major Infrastructure and Industrial Transformation, President Reveals Comprehensive Development Plan

In a powerful campaign rally at Mashujaa Grounds in Moshi, the presidential candidate outlined an ambitious vision to revolutionize Kilimanjaro Region’s economic landscape and infrastructure development.

The comprehensive strategy focuses on multiple critical sectors, with significant road network improvements at its core. A proposed 31-kilometre bypass connecting Kahe to Kilimanjaro International Airport and 17 kilometres of tarmacked roads within Moshi Municipality headline the infrastructure agenda.

Key infrastructure and development commitments include:

Infrastructure Investments:
– Road network expansions across Vunjo, Same District, and Holili-Tarakea routes
– Enhanced connectivity to boost regional trade and economic activities

Industrial Revitalization:
– Targeted revival of collapsed factories
– Support for local manufacturing, including spare parts production
– Strategic interventions to reinvigorate industrial potential

Agricultural Transformation:
– Subsidized fertilizers for coffee farmers
– Expansion of pastoral grazing areas from 3.6 to 6 million acres
– Modern farming center establishment
– Comprehensive livestock training programs

Healthcare Enhancements:
– Upgrades to hospitals in Moshi, Mwanga, and Rombo
– Expanded services at Mawenzi Regional Referral Hospital

Water Infrastructure:
– Increased clean water access
– Implementation of Same–Mwanga–Korogwe water scheme’s second phase

The comprehensive plan underscores a commitment to holistic regional development, promising to unlock Kilimanjaro’s economic potential and improve residents’ quality of life.
