Kigoma Regional Police Investigate Alleged Voter ID Fraud in North Constituency
Kigoma Regional Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into serious allegations of voter identification number collection misconduct by political party leaders in the Kigoma North Constituency.
The investigation focuses on reported incidents in six key wards: Mwandiga, Kagunga, Simbo, Mkigo, Kagongo, and Kidawe. Regional Police Commander confirmed these activities potentially constitute a criminal offense under the Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections Act of 2024.
Specific legal provisions potentially violated include Sections 14(1)(g) and 119(2) of Act No. 1 of 2024, which outline restrictions on voter registration and identification processes.
“Investigations are currently ongoing,” stated the Regional Police Commander. “Once we conclusively establish the facts, all individuals found responsible will face strict legal consequences.”
