President Samia Unveils Comprehensive Development Plan for Pemba, Promises Transformative Reforms
In a landmark campaign rally at Chake Chake, President Samia Suluhu Hassan outlined an ambitious vision for Pemba’s comprehensive transformation, focusing on infrastructure, industry, education, health, and security ahead of the October 29 General Election.
Drawing from her deep personal connection to the island, President Hassan shared her historical roots in Pemba, emphasizing her understanding of local challenges and aspirations. “I am one of you,” she declared, recounting memories of studying and working in the region during the 1970s.
The President highlighted her administration’s significant achievements, including the near-complete Chake–Wete road, the new Shumba port, and strategic investments in education and water infrastructure. “Our goal is to ensure every household in Pemba has access to clean water 24/7,” she stated.

Her campaign slogan “Kazi na Utu” (Work and Dignity) underscores her government’s approach to uplift citizens’ lives and safeguard their dignity across all regions.
