Africa’s Social Security Leaders Convene in Arusha to Forge Collaborative Development Strategy

Zanzibar’s First Vice President emphasized the critical need for enhanced collaboration among African social security funds, positioning these institutions as key drivers of regional development and inclusive growth.
Speaking at the 14th International Conference of Social Security Policy Makers, the vice president called for coordinated efforts and robust policy frameworks to improve social protection management. “We must support initiatives that address challenges hindering effective social security implementation,” he stressed.
The conference highlighted the transformative potential of strategic social security investments in infrastructure and living standard improvement. Ministers and high-ranking officials from multiple African nations participated, discussing innovative approaches to sustainable economic development.
A significant outcome of the conference was Tanzania assuming leadership of the African Social Security Association, signaling a new phase of continental cooperation.
