CRDB Bank Crowned Best SME Bank in Africa, Championing Entrepreneurial Growth
Dar es Salaam – CRDB Bank has been recognized as the Best SME Bank in Africa at the 2025 African Banker Awards, highlighting its transformative approach to financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a special focus on women- and youth-led businesses.
The prestigious award, presented during a ceremony centered on “Climate Change and Sustainable Development,” underscores the bank’s innovative financial solutions and strategic support for entrepreneurs.
Marking 30 years of operational excellence, CRDB Bank has disbursed loans exceeding 1.2 trillion Tanzanian shillings to over 230,000 entrepreneurs, enabling small businesses to grow and formalize their operations.
As a pioneer in SME support, CRDB was the first bank in Tanzania to establish a dedicated SME department in 2000. The bank continues to evolve its approach through innovative products like the revamped Biashara Account, digital payment tools, and specialized financing solutions such as Mkopo wa Komboa.
The bank’s commitment extends beyond financial products, offering global exposure opportunities for Tanzanian entrepreneurs through international study tours and strategic partnerships that have mobilized over $700 million in funding.
