Dodoma – President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Dr Mwigulu Nchemba as Tanzania’s new Prime Minister, citing his proven dedication to serving all citizens and exceptional performance during a rigorous vetting process.
The President made the announcement on Friday, November 14, 2025, moments after swearing in Dr Nchemba at Chamwino State House. The appointment followed parliamentary endorsement of the Iramba West MP the previous day.
During her address at the swearing-in ceremony, attended by senior government officials and retired national leaders, President Samia explained the thorough assessment process that led to the selection.
"The competition was intense, but throughout the rigorous vetting process, you consistently demonstrated the qualities required for this position," President Samia stated, highlighting the comprehensive evaluation conducted before making her final decision.
The President emphasized that her choice was based on the candidate’s commitment to public service and ability to deliver on government promises. "You have a significant responsibility ahead as you work to deliver the promises outlined in the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) 2025–2030 manifesto," she said, referencing the government’s obligations to Tanzanian citizens.
President Samia stressed the importance of swift action in implementing the party’s commitments made during the national campaign. "We must work with diligence and increased speed to ensure these commitments are fulfilled," she emphasized.
