Presidential Candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan Pledges Comprehensive Development for Mwanza Region
In a series of campaign rallies across Nyamagana, Misungwi, and Sengerema districts, Presidential Candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan outlined an ambitious development plan focused on transforming the lives of Mwanza residents through strategic infrastructure, economic, and social service improvements.
Water Infrastructure Takes Center Stage
Hassan committed to resolving water shortages by completing three large water tanks in Buhongwa, Fumagila, and Nyamazobe, promising 24-hour water availability throughout the year. The Butimba water project, valued at 71.7 billion Tanzanian shillings, has already provided clean water to over 450,000 residents, with additional projects worth 462 billion shillings nearing completion.
Economic Empowerment and Job Creation
The candidate emphasized economic opportunities, particularly in fishing and trade. She proposed expanding fish cage farming on Lake Victoria to create more jobs for young people and promised to construct protective barriers for fishers and establish modern fish markets with cold storage facilities.
Comprehensive Social Service Development
Hassan highlighted significant investments in social infrastructure, including improvements to the Nyamagana District Hospital, construction of health centers, secondary and primary schools, and upgrading facilities to accommodate students with special needs.
Infrastructure and Connectivity
The campaign emphasized key infrastructure projects like the Kigongo–Busisi Bridge and ongoing Standard Gauge Railway development, aimed at improving regional connectivity and transportation efficiency.
Economic Vision and Future Prospects
The presidential candidate stressed CCM’s commitment to strengthening agricultural and fishing markets, improving logistics, and continuing investments in social services while expanding business and trade opportunities.
“Our priority is social services,” Hassan declared. “We will continue to strengthen health, education, and water supply while creating broader economic opportunities for our people.”
