Tanzania’s Voter Register Updated: 37.6 Million Voters Confirmed for 2025 General Election
The National Electoral Commission has announced refined voter registration figures for the upcoming 2025 General Election, revealing a significant growth in voter participation across Tanzania.
Following comprehensive data verification, the latest electoral statistics show 37,647,235 registered voters nationwide, marking a substantial 26.53 percent increase from the 2020 election. This expansion reflects growing civic engagement and democratic participation.
Demographic breakdown indicates 36,650,932 voters from Mainland Tanzania and 996,303 from Zanzibar. Gender representation shows a balanced distribution, with women slightly leading at 50.34 percent (18,950,801 voters) compared to men at 49.66 percent (18,696,439 voters).
Polling station infrastructure has also been strategically enhanced, with 99,895 stations prepared for the upcoming elections – a 22.47 percent increase from 81,567 stations in 2020. This expansion aims to improve voter accessibility and reduce congestion at polling centers.
The Electoral Commission confirmed that Zanzibar’s voter register will be integrated into the national registration list for Presidential and Parliamentary elections, ensuring comprehensive and unified electoral processes.
Political parties can expect to receive official polling station lists for Presidential, Parliamentary, and Councilor elections in the coming weeks, completing preparations for the 2025 General Election.
