High Court Set to Decide Fate of Presidential Candidate Luhaga Mpina
In a critical legal battle, the High Court in Dodoma is scheduled to deliver its judgment on Friday, 10 October 2025, regarding Luhaga Mpina’s bid to be reinstated as a presidential candidate for the upcoming General Election.
The case, filed as a constitutional petition, challenges Mpina’s exclusion from the 29 October electoral race. The petition involves ACT-Wazalendo’s Board of Trustees against the National Electoral Commission and the Attorney General.
During Monday’s proceedings, both legal teams agreed to forgo additional oral submissions, requesting an immediate ruling. Presiding Judge Fredrick Manyanda indicated that the court would spend three days reviewing submitted documents before rendering a decision.
“This matter is significant and urgent as it affects the interests of many,” Judge Manyanda stated, emphasizing the case’s importance to the democratic process.
Mpina expressed hope for a swift resolution, stating he wants an opportunity to explain his presidential campaign to citizens. Party leadership remains confident in the judiciary’s ability to make a fair determination.
The ruling, expected at 2 pm on Friday, could potentially reshape the upcoming electoral landscape. Members of the public are invited to attend the hearing and witness this pivotal moment in the electoral process.
The case continues to draw significant attention as it could have far-reaching implications for political representation and electoral participation in the upcoming national elections.
