President Samia Suluhu Hassan Launches Election Campaign in Kilimanjaro, Promises Continued Infrastructure and Service Expansion
President Samia Suluhu Hassan officially commenced her election campaign in the Kilimanjaro Region, delivering a comprehensive vision focused on critical national development priorities. Speaking in Same District, she highlighted significant progress in infrastructure, healthcare, water supply, and education.
Electrification emerged as a key campaign promise, with the President revealing remarkable achievements. “We have not just electrified villages, but reached remote hamlets,” she stated. Currently, half of Tanzania’s hamlets have been connected to electricity, with projections indicating nationwide power coverage within the next 18 months.
Healthcare transformation took center stage, with the President referencing her early campaign experiences and subsequent improvements. She announced six new health centers in Same, three near completion, and five additional dispensaries under construction. Notably, districts like Pangani have seen extended periods without maternal deaths, underscoring the government’s commitment to maternal and child health.
Water access has dramatically improved, with urban coverage increasing from 64.5% in 2020 to 89.5%. The Same–Mwanga–Korogwe project’s first phase is complete, with subsequent phases planned to expand water infrastructure.
Education remains a priority, with continued investments in free schooling, classroom construction, and technical education expansion. The President also addressed human-wildlife conflict, establishing a control center in Maore Ward to support affected communities.
Regional leaders reinforced the campaign’s message of continuity and development. The President emphasized unity and urged citizens to evaluate candidates based on proven performance and capacity to deliver transformative change.
“With God’s help, and with your support, we will continue to transform this country – village by village, ward by ward, and region by region,” President Hassan declared, signaling her commitment to comprehensive national development.
