President Samia Suluhu Hassan Launches Economic Transformation Campaign in Tanga, Highlighting Port Modernization
In a pivotal campaign rally in Tanga, President Samia Suluhu Hassan unveiled a comprehensive strategy for economic development, centering on the strategic modernization of Tanga Port and its potential to drive national growth.
Addressing thousands of supporters, President Hassan emphasized the port’s transformation from a peripheral asset to a critical national economic gateway. “The decision to modernise Tanga Port was deliberate,” she stated, highlighting the region’s potential in trade, logistics, energy, and fisheries.
Key developments include significant improvements in cargo handling capacity, expanded export opportunities for agriculture and minerals, and increased job creation for local communities. The port strategy aims to decongest Dar es Salaam Port while promoting more balanced coastal development.
