Masaki Health Expo Returns to Promote Preventive Healthcare in Dar es Salaam
The Masaki Wellspring Hub (MWH) is set to host its second annual Health Expo on September 21, bringing critical health awareness to Dar es Salaam residents. The free, day-long event aims to address the growing challenge of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Tanzania, which now account for 34.6 percent of national deaths.
With an alarming trend of young people experiencing serious health conditions, including a monthly increase of 24 percent in new stroke cases, the expo seeks to encourage early health screening and preventive care. Medical experts highlight the urgent need for proactive health management, especially among children and young adults.
The comprehensive health event will feature over 20 healthcare exhibitors covering critical areas including nutrition, mental health, reproductive health, oral care, and eye care. A dedicated children’s area will promote healthy lifestyle habits, while a blood donation drive will provide community service opportunities.
Specialized health services will be available, including dental check-ups for schoolchildren and expert guidance on nutrition and lifestyle choices. The expo aims to reach more than 200 local residents, offering free health consultations and screenings.
“Residents should seize this opportunity to learn more about health matters that affect them and their families,” health officials emphasized, underlining the event’s importance in community health education and prevention.
The Health Expo represents a critical initiative in addressing Tanzania’s evolving healthcare challenges, providing accessible and comprehensive health information to the community.
