President Samia Suluhu Hassan Unveils Strategic Infrastructure Development Plan for Regional Growth
In a powerful campaign launch at Tanganyika Parkers Grounds, President Samia Suluhu Hassan outlined an ambitious development strategy centered on the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) to transform regional economic prospects.
Speaking to thousands of supporters in Morogoro Region, the president revealed comprehensive plans to revolutionize agricultural trade and industrial connectivity through strategic infrastructure investments. The SGR project is set to become a critical catalyst for economic transformation, with proposed storage facilities at railway stations designed to minimize post-harvest losses and expand market access for local farmers and traders.
Key Infrastructure and Development Highlights:
• Healthcare Expansion: Increased health centers from 5 to 15
• Education Infrastructure: Constructed 7 new primary schools and 120 classrooms
• Secondary Education Growth: Added 7 new secondary schools and 175 classrooms
• Water Access: Improved district water availability from 51% to 57%
The president emphasized her commitment to addressing environmental challenges, particularly focusing on reducing deforestation and developing sustainable infrastructure solutions. By integrating transportation, agriculture, and community development, the government aims to create comprehensive economic opportunities across regions.
Future initiatives will prioritize road infrastructure improvements, such as upgrading the Bigwa–Kisaka road to enhance connectivity with SGR stations and maximize community benefits from critical infrastructure projects.
