Tanzania and Telecommunications Giant Forge Strategic Partnership to Boost Digital Infrastructure
In a groundbreaking development, the Tanzanian government and telecommunications leadership have reached a critical agreement to significantly increase investment in national digital infrastructure, signaling a major leap towards technological advancement.
The government, holding a substantial 49 percent stake in the telecommunications company, will directly participate in strategic decision-making processes aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving service delivery across the country.
Treasury Registrar highlighted the comprehensive plan, which includes critical investments in the national fibre optic backbone and the introduction of innovative digital products. The strategic collaboration is designed to accelerate digital transformation and support Tanzania’s ambitious economic vision.
“Our commitment is to develop a robust nationwide network that enables Tanzanians to increasingly adopt digital systems,” said the Treasury Registrar, emphasizing the partnership’s transformative potential.
The collaboration directly aligns with Tanzania’s Vision 2050, an ambitious national strategy targeting transition to an upper-middle-income economy. The vision aims to achieve a national GDP of $1 trillion and elevate per capita income to $7,000 annually by 2050.
