ACT-Wazalendo Declares 2025 as Transformative Year for Zanzibar’s Political Landscape
In a strategic meeting held in Unguja, ACT-Wazalendo national leadership has boldly proclaimed 2025 as a critical year for political transformation in Zanzibar, positioning themselves as a formidable alternative to the current ruling party.
The party’s national chairperson delivered a powerful message, challenging citizens to reject corrupt governance and restore integrity to public leadership. “This is the year we bury the arrogance of the corrupt. Our people deserve leaders who serve, not those who exploit public office for personal gain,” the leadership emphasized during the meeting.
With 606 members collecting nomination forms for various elective positions, the party signals a significant grassroots mobilization ahead of the October 2025 General Election. The leadership highlighted the party’s commitment to rigorous candidate vetting, ensuring only individuals with proven integrity can represent the party.
A key focus of the strategy meeting was addressing historical injustices, with party leaders calling for a complete political transformation. “We must remember those who were beaten, tortured, killed, or left permanently disabled. These tragedies must end,” the leadership statement declared.
The party also celebrated an increasing number of female aspirants, presenting this as evidence of their commitment to gender equality and inclusive governance. Party leaders stressed that their mission transcends personal ambition, emphasizing a dedication to national liberation and service.
As Zanzibar approaches a critical electoral period, ACT-Wazalendo positions itself as a progressive alternative, promising comprehensive political renewal and a departure from current governance models.
