Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair Concludes with Impressive Economic Milestone

The 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) concluded on Sunday, July 13, achieving remarkable economic success with reported sales exceeding 7.06 billion and secured orders worth more than 44.4 billion.

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa closed the 16-day event by issuing seven strategic directives designed to strengthen Tanzania’s trade sector and enhance future exhibitions. Key recommendations included closer collaboration between government ministries and the private sector, addressing participation constraints, and expanding market reach.

“We need to produce high-quality goods tailored to market needs,” Majaliwa emphasized, highlighting emerging opportunities in sectors like fish products and seaweed for cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

The event showcased significant growth, with international company participation increasing to 394 firms, representing a 110-company expansion from the previous year. The trade fair attracted over 2.6 million visitors and demonstrated substantial improvements in infrastructure and digital services.

A notable directive mandated that locally produced goods must bear the “Made in Tanzania” label, promoting national product identity. The Prime Minister also encouraged producers to enhance marketing efforts through various media channels to unlock new markets.

TanTrade reported that approximately 60 percent of exhibitors met their business targets, more than doubling last year’s sales figures. The event’s success signals growing confidence in Tanzania’s trade platforms and potential for international investment.

Majaliwa extended an invitation to the 22 participating countries, emphasizing Tanzania’s skilled and dependable workforce as an attractive investment destination.

The trade fair concluded with optimism about Tanzania’s economic potential and commitment to expanding its global commercial presence.
