Tanzania Launches Groundbreaking Investment Authority to Streamline Business Processes
In a significant move to enhance Tanzania’s investment landscape, the government has established the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), promising to revolutionize how businesses engage with governmental investment services.
Formed through the Investment and Special Economic Zones Act No. 6 of 2025, TISEZA represents a strategic merger combining previous investment agencies into a single, powerful entity. The authority officially commenced operations on July 1, 2025, marking a new era for economic development.
The innovative approach introduces a One-Stop Facilitation Centre designed to digitize and centralize government investment services, dramatically reducing bureaucratic complexities. Investors can now complete all necessary processes through a single, integrated platform.
Strategic investment thresholds have been clearly defined, requiring a minimum capital of $20 million for local investors and $50 million for foreign investors. These criteria aim to attract serious, committed investors while supporting Tanzania’s economic growth objectives.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Gilead Teri as the new Director General, signaling a strong commitment to institutional transformation. The government emphasizes that existing investment projects will continue uninterrupted during this transition.
Early industry responses have been positive, with business leaders anticipating improved efficiency and streamlined service delivery. The new authority represents a bold step towards creating a more investor-friendly environment and positioning Tanzania as an attractive destination for both local and international investment.
