Zanzibar’s First Vice President Returns from Crucial International Diplomatic Mission
Othman Masoud Othman, the National Chairperson of ACT-Wazalendo, has returned to Zanzibar after a strategic multi-country diplomatic tour aimed at strengthening international support for democratic reforms.
The high-profile tour covered key global destinations, including the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada, where critical discussions were held with international policy institutions and government representatives.
During his mission, Othman engaged in comprehensive dialogues about Zanzibar’s democratic landscape, meeting with stakeholders interested in the region’s political development. He described the tour as “highly productive,” emphasizing the opportunity to present the ground-level realities of democratic challenges.
“We met with friends of Zanzibar who are keenly interested in developments back home,” Othman stated. “Our journey toward justice and the liberation of Zanzibar continues.”
The diplomatic initiative is strategically aligned with the party’s 2025 campaign theme, “The Year of Saving Zanzibar,” and is viewed as a critical step in building international solidarity ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Othman was accompanied by his spouse, Mama Zainab Kombo Shaib, and received a warm welcome at multiple airports, with senior party leadership present to greet his return.
The visit signals ACT-Wazalendo’s commitment to expanding international dialogue and garnering support for democratic reforms in Zanzibar and Tanzania.
