CRDB Bank Group Achieves Landmark Green Bond Listing on International Exchange
In a significant milestone for sustainable finance, CRDB Bank Group has successfully listed its Sh171.8 billion green bond, marking a groundbreaking moment for African financial institutions.
The innovative Kijani Bond represents a major step in climate-focused investment, demonstrating Tanzania’s commitment to sustainable economic development. With an unprecedented 429 percent subscription rate, the bond raises $65.7 million dedicated to critical green initiatives.
Strategic investments from the bond will support crucial sectors including renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, clean cooking technologies, green building projects, water and sanitation infrastructure, and sustainable transportation.
CRDB Bank Group’s CEO highlighted the listing as more than a financial achievement, emphasizing it as a pivotal collaboration between Africa and Europe in green finance. The bond’s success signals Africa’s growing readiness to participate in sustainable financial markets.
