Zanzibar’s President has unveiled remarkable economic achievements during his first five-year term, highlighting substantial progress across multiple sectors.

Economic Performance:
– GDP surged from 4.78 trillion to 6.57 trillion, representing a 63% increase
– Economy recorded 7.1% growth by 2024
– Per capita income rose to 3.22 million, up from 2.52 million
Investment Landscape:
– 485 investment projects valued at $6.2 billion registered
– 24 new factories established in pharmaceuticals, textiles, food processing
– Expected job creation exceeding 25,470 positions
Strategic Development Achievements:
Infrastructure and Citizen Empowerment:
– 39.4 billion in microloans disbursed to 25,700 beneficiaries
– 80.25km urban roads constructed
– 275.9km rural road projects 71% complete
Tourism and Economic Diversification:
– Tourism visitor numbers increased 86.9%, from 394,185 to 736,755
– 1,000 boats distributed supporting seaweed farming and fishing
– 32,000 people benefited, with 70% youth participation
