Major Soft Drinks Factory Expansion Set to Double Production Capacity in Tanzania
Bakhresa Food Products Limited has announced a groundbreaking $500 million factory expansion in Dar es Salaam, aimed at significantly boosting soft drink production and meeting growing market demands.
The ambitious project, spanning 17 hectares, will increase daily production from 150,000 to 300,000 cartons, marking a critical milestone in the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The expansion is expected to be completed next year.
As part of the strategic growth initiative, the company has introduced Tamtam, a new children’s juice brand featuring pineapple, orange, and mixed fruit flavors. This launch underscores the company’s commitment to product innovation and market diversification.
A key highlight of the expansion is the company’s dedication to supporting local agriculture. By sourcing raw materials from approximately 100,000 local farmers through cooperative societies, Bakhresa continues to strengthen Tanzania’s agricultural ecosystem.
Production capabilities have already seen significant improvements, with daily output increasing from 150,000-200,000 cartons to 250,000-300,000 cartons. The upgraded machinery addresses previous production limitations and positions the company for robust growth.
The expansion also supports international market strategies, with current exports reaching East and Central African countries, and recent shipments to Yemen and Oman indicating the company’s growing global presence.
This strategic investment represents a significant boost to Tanzania’s manufacturing sector and demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment to economic development and market expansion.
