Zanzibar Triumphs in Hosting CAF Confederation Cup Final, Showcases International Sports Potential
Dar es Salaam – The Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) has declared the successful hosting of the CAF Confederation Cup final as a landmark achievement, highlighting the region’s capability to organize major international football tournaments.
The championship final, held at the newly renovated New Amaan Complex, saw Morocco’s RS Berkane clinch the title with a decisive 3-1 aggregate victory, including a 2-0 win in the initial leg.
ZFF Secretary General emphasized the significant milestone, stating, “This success demonstrates Zanzibar’s potential to host continental and international sporting events. We’ve proven our readiness to welcome world-class competitions.”
The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar received special commendation for investing in state-of-the-art infrastructure, transforming the New Amaan Complex into a premier sporting venue.
“The stadium meets international standards, and we’re confident it can host future tournaments like CHAN,” the official added. The event not only brought international recognition but also inspired local football clubs and players to aim higher in continental competitions.
