Tanzania Bureau of Standards Renews Contract with Global Inspection Partner, Expanding Trade Verification Services
In a significant development for international trade, Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) has renewed its contract with a leading global inspection organization for another three years, effective February 20th, 2025. The renewed agreement authorizes the continuation of Certificate of Conformity (CoC) issuance for Tanzania’s Pre-shipment Verification of Conformity (PVoC) Program.
The expanded contract now includes comprehensive coverage across multiple strategic regions, including the United Kingdom, Indian Subcontinent, United Arab Emirates, and Far East markets. This extension reinforces Tanzania’s commitment to maintaining rigorous product quality and safety standards for imported goods.
The PVoC program, operational since 2012, aims to protect consumers from substandard products by ensuring imported goods meet national and international quality benchmarks. The program covers an extensive range of product categories, including automotive, electronics, food products, mechanical materials, safety products, and used goods.
Key objectives of the renewed contract include:
– Enhancing consumer protection
– Ensuring product quality and safety
– Facilitating seamless international trade
– Maintaining stringent import verification processes
Through this strategic partnership, Tanzania continues to strengthen its market regulation framework, providing robust protection for consumers while supporting smooth global trade interactions. The comprehensive verification process will help maintain high standards across multiple product categories and international markets.
