CCM Katavi Warns Early Political Aspirants Against Premature Campaign Activities
Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in Katavi Region has issued a stern warning to party members who have prematurely started election campaign activities ahead of the official timeline.
The CCM Regional Chair, Idd Kimanta, revealed that over 30 members have already begun unofficial campaigning across the region’s five electoral constituencies, creating pressure on current legislators and representatives.
Kimanta emphasized that the timing for election campaigns has not yet arrived and these members are violating party regulations and principles. The party leadership is carefully monitoring these activities and will take disciplinary actions against those found breaching party guidelines.
“We have already received lists of party members who are unofficially campaigning in various constituencies and districts, seeking parliamentary and council positions,” Kimanta stated. He stressed that current legislators and council members are still legally mandated until 2025 and deserve respect.
The party leader clarified that the growing political enthusiasm is a positive sign of democratic processes within CCM, but members must follow established party procedures. He strongly denied allegations of party leaders introducing pre-selected candidates and called such claims mere rumors.
Kimanta urged party members to be patient and wait for the official election preparation period, ensuring campaigns are conducted through proper channels and with utmost respect for existing political representatives.
