Morogoro County Takes Decisive Action Against Infrastructure Attacks
In a stern warning to criminals targeting critical national infrastructure, the Morogoro County Commissioner has announced strict measures against those attempting to damage or steal infrastructure resources.
The county leadership emphasized that significant government investments have been made in developing essential infrastructure using public tax revenues. “These criminal activities by a few individuals who do not have the nation’s best interests at heart will not be tolerated,” the County Commissioner stated.
Police in Morogoro have already taken significant steps, arresting six suspects involved in infrastructure attacks. Among the incidents, six individuals were apprehended for electricity infrastructure theft, with stolen power cables valued at approximately 57 million Tanzanian shillings.
The arrests span multiple locations, including:
– Three suspects arrested for electricity infrastructure theft in Mandera Village
– Three pastoral community members detained for damaging a national seed farm in Msimba Village by illegally cutting fences and introducing livestock
Law enforcement authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and all suspects will be prosecuted. The message is clear: attacks on national infrastructure will be met with swift and decisive legal action.
The county leadership stressed that police and security agencies are fully prepared to protect critical infrastructure including railways, roads, electricity, and water systems. This proactive approach aims to safeguard national assets and prevent economic disruption.
